Become a Volunteer

Volunteers work directly with the community and provide support in a number of ways.

We invite those interested in volunteering with the AARC to view our current volunteer opportunities on our GivePulse page. For those interested in longer-term involvement as an AARC volunteer and/or who would like to be notified of upcoming volunteer opportunities, please fill out our Volunteer Inquiry Form.

For any further questions or inquiries, please call (512) 974-1700 or e-mail us at aarc@austintexas.gov.

AARC Ambassadors

Volunteer ambassadors help us spread the word about our upcoming events and programs by distributing fliers around the Austin area, which can be done on their own time, so this is a great opportunity with a lot of flexibility for volunteers. Ambassadors may also be asked to help support AARC staff at tabling engagements around the city. To get more information, fill out our Volunteer Inquiry Form

Technology Class Volunteer | Tuesdays 12-1pm

The Asian American Resource Center (AARC) invites you to volunteer with our Senior Program by assisting with our weekly technology classes.

The Technology Class is offered weekly in partnership with Austin Free Net as part of the AARC’s regular schedule for Senior Program participants. Seniors learn and practice technology skills with the guidance of trained instructors. Volunteers will help with setting up tables and chairs before the class, as well as assisting instructors during class as needed.

Contract Instructor Program

Austin Parks and Recreation Department (PARD) utilizes independent contract instructors to provide unique programming services! A contract gives you the ability to offer programs/activities based on the needs and space availability at our Facilities or Parks. Instructional programs/activities may be offered for preschoolers, school age children, teens, adults, families and seniors in a learning environment for participants. Class fees are set by the contractor and a percentage is paid back to the city.

Class proposals may select the Asian American Resource Center as your preferred location or other Austin Parks and Recreation facilities. Proposals will be reviewed and accepted based on site need, demand, and capacity.

Learn more and complete a class proposal at the Contract Instructor Program webpage

Collaborations

Our programs are initiated in response to community needs. Non-profits, community groups and individuals may suggest a program that is relevant to AARC and Parks and Recreation Department’s mission, values and audience. Collaborative programs must be offered to the public free of charge. If you have a program that meets the requirements, submit a Collaboration Request. We have also prepared a list of Frequently Asked Questions for your convenience.
