APD is seeking the public's assistance in identifying the assailant and suspect vehicle in Murder #11 from 2017.
Suspect: Caucasian or Hispanic male
Short, dark hair, average build
Vehicle: “Orange-red” or “rust” colored, older model, Mazda hatchback

Austin Police are asking for assistance with the murder investigation of Van Kevin White. The murder occurred at 611 S. Congress Ave. in the parking lot behind the building at approximately 7:09 a.m.
This portion of the parking lot is bordered by:
-The Crescent apartment building (127 E. Riverside) south side of building
- City View at SoCo apartment building (1005 S. Congress) north side of building
It is possible a resident in one of these buildings may have seen what occurred in the parking lot. Based on information currently available, APD does not believe the public is at risk in relation to this incident.

Time: 7:09 a.m.
Location: 611 S. Congress Ave.
Deceased: Van Kevin White, White male, (D.O.B. 11-18-65)
On Friday, May 19, 2017 at approximately 7:09 a.m., Austin Police officers responded to a shots fired call at 611 S. Congress Ave. Officers located the victim, Van Kevin White, who had sustained obvious trauma to his body. Austin-Travis County EMS also arrived and began resuscitation efforts. White was transported to University Medical Center at Brackenridge hospital, where he later died from his injuries.
Homicide detectives are interviewing witnesses and following up on leads.
Based on information currently available, APD does not believe the public is at risk in relation to this incident. No arrests have been made at this time.
